Deuteronomy 34:1-12, Psalm 66:1-3, 5, 16-17, Matthew 18:15-20

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Deuteronomy 34:1-12, Psalm 66:1-3, 5, 16-17,
Matthew 18:15-20
Deuteronomy 34:1-12

My Beloved, Moses was given a glimpse of all the land that God was to give His people. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob received the promise that this land would be given to their descendants. They did not live to see it but they believed that God would fulfill His word and they obeyed Him beginning with Abraham who left the place where he lived at God’s word to go a land he did not know. The promise was repeated to Abraham’s son Isaac and then to Jacob but only in the time of Moses and after a long, hard struggle in the 40 years of exile in the wilderness God’s promise was fulfilled.

We are in exile on earth and we too struggle mightily against the world, the flesh and the devil in order to obtain the gift of eternal life that is promised to each of us who are grafted to You Beloved in baptism.

All who receive the call are chosen by God and equipped by Him to carry out the mission that God has commissioned them to do. To Joshua was given the spirit of wisdom and so he was able to lead God’s people into the promised land. They followed him and obeyed him. Each of us has been called Beloved and to each is given a mission to live the Good News in our daily lives from moment to moment. Witnessing to those around us by our lives that we are liberated by You and that we have an inheritance that we share with You according to the will of the Father. Our promised land is with You in heaven.

Psalm 66:1-3, 5, 16-17

My Beloved, the people of God are called to be a people of praise and thanksgiving. We are called to sing, shout and make a joyful noise to the Lord for all the wonderful things He does for us. He gave us a Savior in His own beloved Son so that we may not perish but have eternal life. You have done marvels for us. You have crushed the enemy. You have removed the sting of death. You have given us hope. Your love for us does not depend on whether we deserve it or not we are loved completely and unconditionally.

Grant me the grace to recall all the ways in which You have blessed me instead of carping and whining over the inconsequential. Give me grace to rejoice always for You deserve all the praise and the glory now and forever.

Matthew 18:15-20
My Beloved, in these verses we see the role that Your Church has to play among the community of believers. We are bound to obey the teachings of Holy Mother Church to her is given the authority to interpret Scripture and guide her children unerringly on matters of faith and morals.

God holds Himself bound to whatever she rules as fitting for her members to believe and obey for she does this through the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit. You promised that the gates of hell shall never prevail against her and that You will remain with her until the end of time.

Thank You for Your promise to be among us when we come together as a community of even two to pray about anything. Not only do You guarantee Your presence but You also assure us that anything we ask for in Your Name will be given to us by Your Heavenly Father.
