Romans 12:5-16

My Beloved, St. Paul reminds us that we do not live in isolation, independent of each other rather as members of Your Body we all have different function. We must fulfill our duty and our obligations faithfully according to the gifts that we have received. When we all work together in harmony, each using their particular talents then we further the Kingdom of God on earth. We belong to God first and in loving and serving Him with our whole heart, our whole mind, our whole soul and our strength we will be all that God desires us to be and do all that God has created and planned for us to do. Each according to his or her gifts will work joyfully and with zeal as one body to ensure that  none of her members are neglected, forgotten or are in want for anything. We are called to be generous with the things that God has given us so that none will ever have more than they need. Grant us the gift of true humility my Beloved to be humble as You were and are humble though You are God.

Psalm 131:1-3

My Beloved, this is the prayer of one who is truly humble. With perfect knowledge that he or she can do nothing without You. One who having You knows they possess all things and needs nothing more than You for they can count on You to supply all their needs. Grant that I make this prayer my own.

Wisdom 3:1-9  

My Beloved, how wonderfully comforting these verses are. The Church is truly good and wise in setting out a day for the holy souls in Purgatory. We remember our own loved ones and the innumerable souls that are being purified and are waiting in hope for the moment when their suffering will cease and they will at last behold Your Face eternally.

As we remember them today Lord graciously hear our prayers on their behalf and take every soul presently in Purgatory home to Yourself. 

Romans 5:5-11

What a wonderfully encourage verse this is my Beloved, “Hope does not disappoint us because the Holy Spirit has been given to us, pouring into our hearts the love of God.” When You give Beloved, You give lavishly, generously, infinitely – You give us Your grace and Your love in full measure, shaken together and running over. How wonderfully good You are.  While we were still sinners and unable to rescue our selves You died for us and saved us. We not have a powerful Intercessor at the Father’s right hand and He, ever mindful of the price paid for our salvation will not let Your death and Your sacrifice on the Cross be in vain.

This is why we pray with confidence for those who have died and are perhaps in Purgatory. They are members of Your Body and Your Blood poured out for the salvation of the world gives us hope that they will join the assembly of the faithful in heaven.  You are our boast Beloved for Your resurrection is our sure hope.

Psalm 23:1-6

My Beloved, this beautiful Psalm is a delight to our soul. It speaks movingly of Your tender, comforting, compassionate love for us. As our Good Shepherd You will ensure that we have all we need to take us home to Yourself when our earthly life comes to an end. We also have hope that those gone before us and are presently in Purgatory will eventually sit and dine at Your banqueting table. We have a foretaste of heaven at each celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Thank You my Beloved for hope that our loved ones and we too shall all be united with You and in You eternally in heaven.

John 6:37-40

My Beloved, how good it is to know that in union with You the Father and the Holy Spirit desire the same thing – all of us who believe will be saved. You Sacrifice will not be in vain for those who have placed their faith and hope in You. As God raised You from the dead so will You raise us and fulfill the dearest desire of our hearts that where You are we too shall be and You desire it as well.  We have Your assurance that no one who believes will be lost.

Those whom we have loved well on earth and have gone on before us even though still in Purgatory will be united with You. It delights You to share Your inheritance with us and on the last day, all the redeemed will be raised to eternal life. Those who believed in You will not be lost but are saved.

My Beloved, all who bear the seal of Baptism are marked for heaven. We are saved by You Blood. You were sent into the world by the Father to become the Gateway through which we enter the Kingdom of God. Through Your pierced side You tore the curtain that separate man from God. Every day, from moment to moment we are called to die to sin, this daily martyrdom of the flesh is possible only because You provide the grace necessary for us to choose life over death.

Thank You for the powerful witnesses of the saints who have gone before us who intercede for us before Your glorious throne and someday our own praises will join with theirs as we too enter that glorious rest in You eternally. 

1 John.3:1-3

My Beloved, it is all the plan of our loving Father that His love for us was to be made manifest by sending You into the world, Your obedience to His will that You become sin so we may become righteous. That You taste our death in order that we enter into Your life. What perfect love the Father has for us that He has given us so glorious a Redeemer. We have hope of eternal life because You took on death and defeated it. We have victory over the world, the flesh and the devil because You gained that victory for us. Thank You for renewed hope in the hereafter.

Psalm 24:1-6

My Beloved, we could not stand sinless before You if You did not make it possible for us to do so in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a Sacrament of new beginnings. No matter how many times I fall and no matter how low I sink, grace makes it possible to repent, confess and be forgiven. You know that I am weak and I am prone to sin. You understand for You were a Man Yourself, You were tempted in every way that we are tempted and when we cry out to You for help You hasten to us and wash us clean in Your precious Blood. Thank You.

Romans 9:1-5

My Beloved, would that we too had the great, overwhelming and crushing sorrow that St. Paul suffered because the people to whom he belonged, the people whom God chose, singled out from all the nations to reveal His awesome plan of salvation. From whom were chosen the prophets, to whom were given the law and to whom God made irrevocable covenants. He suffers because they have not accepted You as the Messiah, the Redeemer, the Savior of the world. Instead, they rejected You and put You to death stubbornly refusing to believe that You were the Christ.  We know so many people who have rejected You and cut You off from their lives – we ought to suffer just as St. Paul did and we must pray for them with sighs and groans and tears that You may bring them home someday. 

  

Psalm 147:12-15, 19-20

My Beloved, while every prophecy has been fulfilled through the nation, the race, the people You chose and despite the fact that they rejected You we have been the beneficiaries of their rejection for the Gospel has been preached to the ends of the earth and we have heard and we believe.

You fill our mouths with the finest wheat in the Holy Eucharist. We are filled with sweet honey from the Rock of our Salvation. We carry with us the mark of life received through our Baptism. Your Holy Spirit dwells in us and is our Guide, our Counselor, our Paraclete and our Friend. He leads and guides us. He inspires us to listen to You and to walk in the Way that You have shown us the way of Truth that leads to Life. Thank You my Beloved. Your Covenant is eternal and someday the people chosen by God will also acknowledge that You are the Son of God and the Savior of the world.

Luke 14:1-6

My Beloved, once again You confront the Pharisees many of whom followed the low rigorously, meticulously and scrupulously including all the additions which were added to it. They looked down with self righteous scorn on those who did not. You knew exactly how shallow they were and that they only followed the letter of the law while completely ignoring its spirit. When You questioned them they chose to be silent for they knew that their answer would show them up for what they truly were if they answered truthfully. They lacked compassion and would rather see someone suffer than break the Sabbath law. Time and time again You healed on the Sabbath and instead of seeing that only the power of God could make such healings possible they preferred to nitpick and harangue the people for coming to be healed on the Sabbath.  They showed more compassion to their livestock than they did to their fellow Jews.

Are we any different my Lord? We too prefer to go with the flow than to do what conscience dictates to be right because we prefer to follow the crowd and not rock the boat of common opinion. We would rather be silent than speak on the side of truth when that truth is unpalatable.

Give me a spirit of boldness and courage Lord as well as a spirit of gentleness and kindness.

Luke 13:31-35

My Beloved, You have given me a mission. God created me for a purpose and He has equipped me with everything I need to accomplish it. I can be a coward or I can prefer to do what I will rather than do what God desires me to do. However, if I choose to do each day joyfully all You ask of me, then no harm can come to me until all that You wish me to do is completed. No one can harm a head on my head unless You permit it for a greater good.

My life is Yours and You have power over me. You desire only what is good for me and if I trust You in all things that I know that I will have joy in the midst of suffering and perfect joy with You in heaven.
