DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Genesis 49:2, 8-10, Psalm 72: 1-4, 7-8, 17, Matthew 1:1-7

Genesis 49:2, 8-10

My Beloved, God our Father is constantly reminding us through the Holy Spirit of all that He has accomplished for us in and through You. He sent You into the world in order to make all things new. We were lured and tempted into losing our inheritance but God ensured that You would restore it. He gave You the authority, rule and power to establish Your Kingdom on earth . Your rule and Kingship is everlasting You have won the victory Satan has lost. Heaven earth sing the triumphant hymn of Your praise and offer You unceasing worship from the rising of the sun to its setting Your Name is praised.
You have foiled the plans of the enemy. You have crushed the head of the thief, the murderer, the liar who is prowling in rage for he has lost battle and the days of evil are numbered.

Psalm 72: 1-4, 7-8, 17

My Beloved, the psalmist reminds us that God sent You into the world to establish justice in the world. You have come to rule and to judge in fairness. The poor, the marginalized, those whom the rich and the powerful have rendered voiceless and powerless  are no longer alone - they have the Son of God who does battle on their behalf. You ensure that the poor are satisfied in the midst of hunger and want, that they have peace in their hearts in the midst of violence, that they have joy in the midst of unspeakable sorrow for they know You and love You and they witness to the world that when we possess You we possess all things.

Matthew 1:1-7

My Beloved, today the Church recalls Your genealogy. Beginning with Abraham whom God chose so that through him and  his descendants He would begin to reveal Himself to the world and ultimately bring to completion and fulfillment His plan of redemption and salvation.

Abraham had one son Isaac and yet he became the father of all the nations. You have one Son to whom You have given all authority, power and Kingship in heaven on earth and under the earth. Isaac had two sons one was chosen Jacob. He had 12 sons who formed the 12 tribes of Israel. Generations later another Jacob was chosen to become the father of Joseph who was privileged to become the foster father of Your Own only begotten Son Jesus. The Savior and Redeemer of the world in and through whom You would restore peace and justice forever.
